Humla Clinic, Nepal

The Humla Clinic treats several hundred people every day for ailments ranging from infected cuts to broken bones, eye and ear problems, intestinal disorders, and numerous other illnesses and injuries. It is the only place to go for medical treatment in this remote region of Nepal, where there are no roads. The only way to bring supplies in is by occasional air flights that land on a dirt airstrip.
Dr Yeshe, who once worked as a porter on Nepal's trekking routes, decided to bring medical care to his village after seeing people there die from curable diseases. Through the generosity of a sponsor and his own hard work, he obtained his medical education in India and returned to Humla to start this clinic.
The Humla Clinic has vastly improved the health and well-being of people in the Humla region. Many patients walk long distances to reach the Clinic. The Clinic needs more doctors and medical staff, and is currently building a facility to house them. It also has a continuing need for basic diagnostic equipment and supplies. There being no electricity, generators supply the only power.
I met Dr Yeshe during my visit to Nepal and was impressed with his selfless dedication. The Humla Clinic devotes all of its resources to caring for its patients: Contributed funds could not be used more efficiently. I have arranged with Dr Yeshe to forward a portion of the price of any print from Nepal purchased through this website. As soon as your order is received, the indicated amount is transferred instantly to the Humla Clinic by PayPal, where the funds will be used to provide basic medical care to those who would otherwise have none.
Details are provided on the order pages for the photogravure etchings from Nepal, Pathways and Dreamscapes; please scroll down to find the prints from Nepal, where the prices and the amounts of included contributions are shown. The on-line ordering procedure is explained here.
