Namaste, the prayerful greeting heard in every Nepali village, symbolizes the warmth of the Nepali people, complementing the icy splendour of the Himalayan peaks. Other photogravure etchings from Nepal are shown on this page (below, click image to enlarge). River of Light and Ganesh Himal in the Pathways Series give a sense of the grandeur of Nepal's Himalayan and river-valley vistas. In Morning Glory, the everyday scene of a woman tending a terraced rice-field seems touched by misty divinity. Earthfolds reveals the astonishing depths of the Nepalese landscape, as the terraced fields bend to the extraordinarily steep contours from thousands of meters above a torrential river, silent at this height. In Sky Painting, a Nepali girl holds a branch up against the clouds as if evoking them by waving and in Looking Back, a backward glance overlooking a deep valley near the village of Deng in Ganesh Himal, Nepal.
