Works in Progress
Works in progress linked here are awaiting platemaking, etching, and printing as photogravure editions. Viewers may have noticed that more works-in-progress than new photogravure etchings have appeared. This is because it takes far more time to do a photogravure etching than an ordinary photograph. The difference in depth, texture, tonality, and ink-on-paper presence is immediately evident when seeing the etchings themselves, and is also surprisingly clear from the Web versions at this site.

Photos from an Oct/Nov 2007 trek through Nepal's remote villages and terraced rice-fields, along deafeningly swift glacier-fed rivers to the dazzling Himalayan peaks of the Ganesh Himal region.

A Series on Night and Fog (Prints of Darkness), nocturnes and mist on the edge of perception.
Portugal's Douro Valley, a World Heritage Site of terraced vineyards, where port wine is produced, and sent downriver to the city of Porto, is the source of another future series of photogravure etchings. One of these, Vintage, has been etched, printed, and published. In Nazare and along the Costa de Prata, moments of bright sun alternating with dark clouds on Portugal's Atlantic coast create dramatic seascapes. Three of these have been etched and printed: Wave-Embraced, Fermentation and Discovery.
The 'Three Gems of Andalucia', Granada, Sevilla, and Cordoba, plus Ronda, one of the 'Pueblos Blancos' of Andalucia; the Catalan character of Barcelona, enlivened by the architecture of Antonio Gaudi.
